The Alva Sanitation Department has three trash trucks and two trucks to handle roll-offs. Residential trash is picked up twice a week on Monday and Thursday and Tuesday and Friday depending where you live.  If you have access to an alley, put your trash containers (City Ordinance requires containers to have a tight lid!) on the edge of the alley; otherwise put the containers out front on pick-up days.  Commercial customers are picked up twice a week and additional pick ups can be arranged. 

Limbs and grass are picked up on Wednesday's each week. The property to be picked up is required have an active Water and Trash account with the City of Alva, and the limbs and grass must must placed in the front of property at the curb. The maximum diameter for limbs to be picked up by the City is 4 inches. 

The City of Alva has a trash dumpster that is free of charge available at Public Works Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 8 a.m. to 12 noon on the 1st and 3rd Saturday's of each month. Before dumping you are required go to the Public Works office and present them with your paid stamped City of Alva water bill receipt. You will allowed to dump two pick-up loads of trash per month. Public Works has information  regarding what is not allowed to be dumped in that dumpster.

If we deliver a roll-off outside of the City Limits, there will also be a $2.00 per mile charge.  Please call (580) 327-3342 to make arrangements for a roll-off.
