Alva Public Library

The mission of the Alva Public Library is to be an educational and recreational resource for the residents of Alva, Woods County and the surrounding area by promoting literacy and life-long learning opportunities.
You must have a library card to check out items and to use the Internet. Library cards with borrowing privileges and or Internet access privileges are available to the residents of Alva and Woods County free of charge. No registration fee will be charged for those individuals that attend school, live, work or own property in Woods County.
Any person who does not qualify for a library card can apply for a nonresident library card for a fee of $5.00 per household and entitles any member of the family to borrowing privileges for twelve months.

In the event that an item is damaged or lost, replacement costs plus a fee will be charged to the patron.
If an item is checked out by someone else, you may request a reserve or hold on that item.
We will contact you by telephone or email as soon as the item becomes available. Requested material will be held for seven days.
If we don’t own a item here, we will borrow material from other libraries. You may request specific titles or information on the requested topic. We charge a $3.00 per book fee for this service. To borrow through the interlibrary loan process, you must have a card with the Alva Public Library, have established a good return record and not have any overdue materials or fines.

LSTA Grant Awarded to Alva Public Library
The Oklahoma Department of Libraries (ODL) awarded a $552 grant to the Alva Public Library to purchase five webcams and headphones for use by staff and patrons in the library.
The webcam and headphones can be checked out aqt the main desk to use in conjunction with the library for virtual classes or meetings. Appointments to use this equipment may be scheduled by call the library at 580-327-1833.
The grant is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act and the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. The purpose of the grant funding is to provide libraries with technology that will support and enhance the work of the library in meeting patron needs.
The ODL is the official state library of Oklahoma. The agency serves the information and records management needs of state government, assists with public library development, coordinates library and information technology projects for the state, and serves the general public through its specialized collections.
