First, the City of Alva extends its deepest gratitude to its water customers for their outpouring expressions of grace during our recent projects. Projects of this magnitude have been decades in the making and do not happen without inconvenience and even hardship.
The next project will be to cut and cap the line at Hart St. and US 281. Unlike the Murray Dr. project, there are significantly fewer unknowns based on what crews learned during the Murray Dr. project.
The service interruption for this project will affect a very small area between Davis and US 281 on Hart Street. The adjacent neighborhoods may experience minimal water pressure issues.
The duration of this work should be less than 2 hours.
Of course, we make no guarantees when addressing these decades old issues that are impacting the highway project, but at least this one looks pretty cut and dry.
Work will begin Thursday 10/16/2025 between 4pm and 5pm.
We will provide updates as the project gets underway, if there are any unanticipated issues.
